As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, you will play a critical role in real-time intervention during high-risk patient care calls. You will be responsible for identifying and addressing situations where individuals are at risk of self-harm, harm to others, or experiencing other crisis situations. This role requires immediate response, thorough risk assessment, and effective coordination with internal teams and emergency services to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved.

**This role is fully remote, based within Australia. You will be required to work Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm (AEST), please note additional weekend work may be required.**

Duties & Responsibilities include:
Crisis Response
- Provide immediate support to patients through outreach and intervention during interactions with patients in crisis situations.
- Evaluate the patient experience and patient care real time risk assessment to determine patients needs, risk assessment and safety planning as required
- Liaise with and refer patients to relevant crisis and emergency services
- Offer immediate support and provide appropriate focused psychological strategies/interventions relative to the patient’s crisis.
- Exercise independent professional judgement to solve problems and manage cases, adapting principles, procedures, and techniques as necessary.
- Utilise advanced reasoning skills to provide support in complex and acute situations, effectively communicating these actions to the team.
- Follow up with patients who have been flagged as requiring a welfare check.

Risk Assessment and Prevention
- Complete risk assessments, safety planning and provide information, advocacy, and support to patients experiencing a crisis.
- Complete relevant incident report based on patient interactions.
- Support the orientation of new staff and continuously upskill existing staff in crisis support, de-escalation and other relevant learning areas related to crisis intervention.
- Provide input into the continuous improvement of Crisis response processes to ensure best practice is observed.

Compliance
- Maintain appropriate records including clinical notes, reporting documentation and incident reports.
- Maintain up to date knowledge, skills, and practice within the risk management, safety and quality frameworks as applicable.
- Respect the confidentiality of customers and general practice in line with the organisation’s policies, procedures and the Privacy Act.
- Maintain professional registrations or accreditations as required.

**Qualifications** Qualifications**:

- 3 years’ experience in mental health, domestic family violence intake and/or, crisis intervention assessment preferred
- Previous experience in the provision of crisis intervention and risk assessment, and/or on-call/recall role
- An informed understanding of the causes and impacts of crisis and de-escalation techniques.
- A clear knowledge and understanding of trauma informed care
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport with a variety of individuals including those in crisis.
- Previous telehealth experience highly regarded
- The ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders across departments to identify root issues and options for process and service improvements to reduce instances of escalated patients
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or other related discipline, highly regarded
