Newcastle Private Hospital are looking for a Part-time Ward Clerk to join our Surgical Ward for 3-4 days per week.

Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are a 189 bed, high acuity, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park.

Our hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre with support from a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit. To support our high-quality patient care for those in the Newcastle region; We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory supported by a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit, specialist surgical wards, rehabilitation services and a specialist oncology centre with both inpatient and day infusion services.

Our private maternity birthing suites, postnatal wars and special care baby nursery is renowned for providing exceptional services to families in the Newcastle region.

**As a Ward Clerk your responsibilities may include**:

- Greet all customers with care and compassion, so that patients and families feel comfortable during their hospital stay
- Work collaboratively with the wider administration team, ward nursing staff and our Nurse Unit Manager
- Preparation of patient files, appointment lists and coordination with other ward clerks to obtain ward patient files
- Medical record compilation, collation and filing
- Providing clerical support to the clinical team as required
- Liaison with allied health, wards persons and other hospital departments when required to facilitate patient treatments, discharges or transfers
- Complete other clerical tasks or roles such as data entry, switchboard, front desk, medical records as directed

**Essential Criteria**:

- Prior experience in Healthcare, Medical or Dental Administration in a Patient Facing role
- Proven Administration and/or Customer service experience with exceptional attention to detail
- Proven experience handling confidential information or patient files
- Flexible to work a variety of shifts
- Valid Authority to Work in Australia
- NSW Working with Children check for Employment
- High level customer service skillset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience in MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Works well independently and within a diverse team

**Desirable Criteria**
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience with WebPAS or a similar patient administration system
- Experience in hospital ward environment will be highly advantageous
- Diploma or TAFE level qualification in Administration, Business Management or related discipline (or working towards same)
