We have an exciting opportunity for a 3 year contract role to** lead our Planning Scheme team** within the Strategic Planning and Place Making Department.

Our **Strategic Planning and Place Making Department** takes a strategic approach to long term planning and policy development to shape the growth, urban form, accessibility and liveability of our region whilst managing natural hazards and protecting and conserving our natural resources, environment and heritage. The department’s plans, programs and initiatives are structured to meet the requirements of the South East Queensland Regional Plan and related State legislation, in addition to supporting local demands and needs.

**About the Opportunity**:
As our **_Coordinator Planning Scheme,_** you will lead and manage a team of planning specialists in the delivery of strategic planning and place making services to meet the needs of the community within the Moreton Bay Regional Council area.

You will manage a team of planning specialists providing strategic planning advice and expertise to key stakeholders in accordance with legislative, policy and business requirements. You will be a part of a highly dynamic team full of passionate team members. We aim to bring on board someone who will contribute to this environment in a positive and future focused way.

In addition, you will:

- lead the development and implementation of key policy relating to the planning scheme, land use planning, significant major projects and key placemaking activities
- lead project-based community consultation including representing Council at a range of customer meetings, community and business forums
- act as a council delegate on a variety of external projects, providing and source of professional advice to key stakeholders

**About you**:
We are seeking someone who has high level knowledge and experience in strategic planning, urban design and related development issues, preferably in the areas of planning scheme policy development, document management, amendment programming and delivery, and community engagement.

You will have experience in leading the delivery of a strategic work program, including multiple complex, large-scale planning projects in time critical environments with competing stakeholder interests.

You will have highly developed influencing and negotiation skills to drive sustainable outcomes and the ability to manage a team of planning specialists to drive high performance outcomes.

Term: 3 year contract
Location: Primarily based in Caboolture
Package: Total Remuneration Package from $173,632 and 5 weeks annual leave
