About the role
The Supreme Court of Victoria is seeking to create a pool of motivated, team focused individuals from which it can appoint a number of Registry Officers to fill upcoming and expected vacancies. Registry Officers are tasked with the role of providing administrative services to the judiciary, legal profession, court users and the public. Registry Officers are responsible for undertaking a variety of administrative support functions within the Court and is highly suitable for individuals looking to begin a career in the Court. Registry Officer positions are ideal entry points into the Court, with opportunities to progress within the Principal Registry as well as careers in roles such as Registry Lawyers, Associates and many other areas such as in IT, Juries Victoria and Funds in Court.
The Court is seeking expressions of interest from qualified individuals with flexible commencement dates to fill upcoming vacancies of varying fixed terms as vacancies arise.
The role of a Registry Officer is challenging and varied. Working as part of a large team within Registry Services, the successful applicant will perform a wide range of administrative tasks, including:
- Checking legal documents for compliance with Rules
- Taking receipt of checked documents and completing financial transactions (via counter service or electronic filing facilities)
- Providing technical guidance and support to Court users regarding policy, practice and procedure
- Maintaining the Court's electronic case management system, filing of documents/correspondence, file maintenance and preparation
- Assisting with processing and receipt of Court held subpoenaed materials
- Preparing and authenticating Court orders
- Maintaining and monitoring lists of cases and liaising with the chambers of judicial officers to ensure the smooth operation of the Court
- Establishing and maintaining trusting working relationships with Registry Lawyers and Associates
- Undertaking other necessary administrative functions in order to support the operations of the Court in an increasingly digitalised environment
