This role will be fundamental in implementing and promoting health, safety and wellbeing initiatives across our organization that support a culture centered on safety and positive wellbeing outcomes.

As the Manager Safety & Wellbeing, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of workplace health and safety. You will lead a team of professional and committed Work Health & Safety Officers who play an essential role in implementing procedures to ensure compliance with local and national safety regulations.

**The Role**
Reporting to the Director Economy, Business and Workforce, this role will be responsible for the implementation of Council’s Work Health and Safety System, providing advice and guidance on wellbeing strategies, plans and best practices that support resilience-building, psychosocial risk management, and fostering a positive organisational culture that enhances employee physical and mental wellbeing.

**What we will offer**:

- Annual salary range of $130,000 to $160,000 (inclusive of 11.5% superannuation).
- Permanent full-time, 35 hours per week.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Council’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) system, including risk management, health and safety audit processes, policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and organisational goals.
- Provide advice and guidance on wellbeing strategies, plans and best practices that support resilience-building, psychosocial risk management, and initiatives that foster a positive organisational culture that enhances employee physical and mental wellbeing.
- Provide leadership and oversight to the WHS team, offering expert advice, guidance, and mentorship while fostering professional growth and ensuring the delivery of high-level WHS outcomes.
- Identify and implement actions and initiatives with regards to strategies and plans that support the health and wellbeing of all workers.
- Carrying out workplace inspections with a focus on psychosocial hazards, enforcing WHS laws and provide advice.
- Lead and oversee proactive education, training and awareness initiatives that focus on the health and wellbeing of all workers across the organisation.
- Collaborate and support the People & Culture team in the development and implementation of initiatives, policies, procedures, and practices that support the strategic direction.
- Oversee the coordination and implementation of Council’s consultation framework and provide support and guidance to managers and supervisors on the implementation of Council’s WHS management system at a site level to ensure they are compliant.
- Complete audits as identified and implement actions arising from those audits.

**Skills and Experience**

We are looking for an experienced professional with:

- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Human Resources, Organisational Psychology or Psychology or an associate degree.
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety.
- Class C Driver’s Licence.
- General Construction Induction Training Card.
- Substantial leadership experience.
- Highly developed communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills including sound conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

**Desirable**
- Return to Work Coordinator Certificate in accordance with SIRA Requirements.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
