Join a progressive inner-city Council
- Deliver great outcomes for the community
- Hybrid work arrangements available
Located only 5km from the Melbourne CBD, the City of Yarra is a popular destination to live, work and visit. The area has abundant natural beauty and heritage, sustainable transport options, retail and entertainment precincts, and exciting arts and cultural attractions. Yarra’s neighbourhoods are distinct, each offering something a little different for people to enjoy. The city is a vibrant, safe and inclusive environment, celebrating and embracing diversity and connection to each other and to land.
The City of Yarra has set an inspiring vision with a strong commitment to social justice, responding to the climate emergency and unprecedented growth. To deliver that vision, a contemporary organisational structure has been established to enhance innovation and collaboration at Yarra, strengthen the Council’s reputation and enable deeper engagement with a community passionate about their city.
Reporting to the General Manager Community Strengthening, the Manager Libraries, Arts & Events will oversee and champion the arts, library and festival / events portfolios, maintaining the current high standards of delivery while fostering innovative new ideas, programs and strategies that support the changing needs and expectations of the community. You will drive and embed a community and customer centric approach to service provision within the branch, ensuring that staff members are included in that journey of excellence. You will have the opportunity to develop strong partnerships to deliver on organisational objectives through planning and service delivery, while also holding overall responsibility for embedding a culture of continuous improvement within the branch.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a contemporary, strategic, and people-focused leader with proven experience leading large diverse teams in arts, culture, events, libraries (or similar) within either local government or an aligned sector. You are seen as a champion for libraries and the arts, and you’re passionate about how they make the world a better place. You are adept at forming credible and collaborative relationships with stakeholders both internal and external, including delivering outcomes through a partnership model. Furthermore, you demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement and are highly regarded for your exceptional people leadership and ability to cultivate high performing teams.
To apply, please upload your CV. For any questions not outlined in the PD, please contact Carla Bent on 0422 582 992.
