**Your Role as a Support Specialist**

As part of the Children, Youth and Families team, you will provide tailored, high-quality support to children, young people, families, and foster/kinship carers. This dynamic role involves planning, facilitating, and evaluating educational and therapeutic programs, offering case management, and creating culturally inclusive solutions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

**Your Key Contributions**:

- Develop and implement targeted support plans for children, youth, and carers.
- Facilitate intake processes, assess needs, and create meaningful intervention strategies.
- Deliver in-home and flexible services, including after-hours and on-call support.
- Provide leadership through advice, training, and professional development for team members.
- Build relationships with community stakeholders to achieve lasting outcomes.
- Promote cultural safety and inclusivity, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.

**What You Will Bring**:
You are passionate about the welfare of children and young people, achieving the absolute best outcomes for them. With an empathetic nature you are compassionate toward vulnerable individuals. You are approachable, and a good problem solver who is able to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.

Excellent interpersonal skills are part of your skillset enabling you to build rapport with internal and external people and stakeholders easily. In addition, you have comprehensive knowledge of legislative requirements and can promote a culture of compliance.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:

- A degree in social work, psychology, social sciences or a related field (or 5+ years’ equivalent experience).
- Experience in child protection, trauma-informed care, and statutory frameworks, including knowledge of the _Child Protection Act 1999._
- Strong interpersonal skills to connect with children, families, and professionals.
- Two years’ experience working with children, youth and families in statutory care, ideally within a multi-disciplinary team.
- A commitment to cultural competence and reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Current driver’s license and ability to acquire a National Police Certificate, Working with Children (Blue Card), Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS) - or the ability to acquire - where the service and role provides care or support in licensed care service.
