As Restorative Practice Support Officer, you will specifically:

- Strive to embed Restorative Practices into the Detention Centre culture, to support the building, maintaining and restoring of safe and respectful relationships.
- In collaboration with Operational Youth Detention Staff, support conflict resolution between young people. You will coordinate complex cases of conflict resolution.
- After an incident of undisputed harm to staff, coordinate restorative interventions that support a return to right relations and provide an opportunity for young people take accountability for their actions.
- Design and facilitate pro-active activities and programs aimed to build and maintain safe and respectful relationships between young people and staff.
- Provide targeted coaching to young people who are involved in complex and/or multiple conflicts, working towards the development of emotional regulation and conflict resolution skills.
- Facilitate Restorative Practice training for new and existing YDC staff. Coordinate follow-up coaching and assessment of competency to staff in the workplace.
- Develop training resources such as learner guides, trainer lesson plans and assessment tools. Collaborate with Client Services practitioners and clinicians to ensure Restorative Practice training is evidence based and consistent with trauma informed practice principles.
- Support young people's reintegration and transition to community by supporting relationship building and repair with external stakeholders. This includes collaborating with Restorative Justice Conveners in the community while young people are in detention.
- Uphold the safety and security requirements as it applies within a regulated environment.
