About the role
As Energy Commercial Analyst you’ll lead the commercial strategy and provide valuable insights for the Energy division by identifying and capturing opportunities. This pivotal role involves, overseeing commercial management across the business. The responsibilities include driving value, facilitating effective decision-making, and implementing sustainable governance practices.
What you’ll be doing day-to-day
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Provide senior management with insightful financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making. Monitor key financial metrics and KPIs, identify trends, and recommend areas for improvement to optimize financial performance. Develop and maintain financial models to assess the financial performance of various projects and initiatives.
Commercial Skills
Develop and execute commercial strategies to drive revenue growth and profitability in the energy sector. Recommend business strategies and initiatives to improve profitability. Make recommendations on the pricing of market products and assist in developing the short to medium-term strategy and roadmap for the energy product proposition and offer. Monitor and collect competitor product and pricing intelligence, analyze data, and present information in an insightful and comprehensive format. Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics to proactively adapt commercial strategies.
Risk Management
Identify and assess financial risks associated with energy operations, including market risks and regulatory changes. Develop risk mitigation strategies and monitor risk exposure to safeguard financial performance and compliance. Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and regulatory requirements to anticipate and address potential risks.
Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales, operations, finance, and billing teams, to ensure alignment and collaboration across departments. Serve as a key point of contact for external stakeholders, including customers, regulatory bodies, and industry associations, to foster positive relationships and represent the organization's interests.
People
Contribute to a team culture of continual learning and improvement to increase and accelerate performance. Support effective virtual teams to help meet product and business revenue and performance targets. Identify roadblocks that impact team performance and resolve or escalate as appropriate.

Building Relationships
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peer groups and key internal stakeholders, including other product teams, Finance, Sales & Marketing, Digital, Consumer Service, Commercial Management, Legal, and Regulatory teams. Establish and maintain key external stakeholders relevant to achieving business objectives, including third-party vendors and research partners.
What you’ll bring to this role
- Prior experience in the energy sector is essential plus 5 + years as a CA or CPA is ideal.
