About the Role

We have a permanent senior specialist position in AGL’s Origination Team which covers Gas, Power and Carbon Origination.

The key purpose of this role is to lead the negotiation of both long term and short
- term commercial agreements for gas supply, transportation or storage products and related services. This includes driving contract negotiations relating to gas supplies, gas transportation, storage products and various other services while managing relationships with major gas producers, haulage/storage operators and market operators. There will also be the opportunity to be involved in origination activities relating to renewable power generation, energy storage and carbon credits and offsets.

What you’ll be doing:

- Leading complex negotiations including documentation of transactions (supported by internal or external legal resources) and implementation of commercial arrangements across sale, supply, transport, storage and LNG import (if required). Ensuring contracts are prepared, finalized and executed to meet AGL’s requirements and are consistent with AGL’s wholesale gas strategy.
- Developing and managing key relationships with gas industry counterparties
- Responsible for gas supply origination with gas producers, gas portfolio suppliers and collaborating with other members within AGL’s broader team to develop channel to market options
- Responsible for negotiation of transactions to optimise short to medium term financial performance, and collaborating with the trading manager to set value creation strategies
- Managing supply agreements existing in the portfolio and collaborating with other teams involved in the gas portfolio strategy. Establishing processes to enforce contract specifications and/or resolving conflict where breaches/non-compliance occur
- Establishing and managing processes relating to exercising all future contractual options, optimise commercial arrangements and meet contractual obligations
- In coordination with internal and external resources, develop executable transaction documentation, business cases and Board Papers to obtain approvals for execution of commercial arrangements or propositions

About You

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Relevant tertiary qualification such as a degree in Law, Engineering, Finance or another quantitative discipline
- Experience in leading negotiations on Gas, LNG, and Project development
- Ability to build and manage relationships (internal/external) at all levels, lead and work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals
- Excellent presentation, communication and negotiations skills.
- A demonstrated capacity to influence outcomes
- Proactive individual with high levels of initiative
- Outstanding knowledge and experience in wholesale gas market and risk management with knowledge of the energy and specifically the wholesale gas industry
- Negotiation, contract development and contract management experience
