Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Art Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land - the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.

The Art Gallery attracts around 2 million visitors annually and runs one of Australia’s largest art education programs with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.

Our expanded campus opened in late 2022, providing the Art Gallery with a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. The addition has given the Art Gallery double the exhibition space, allowing us to significantly increase our scheduled exhibitions, family programming and educational programs, allowing the Art Gallery to share more art with more people.

**About the Role**

The position of Maintenance Officer supports the Facilities team and is responsible for undertaking general maintenance work on all buildings and grounds. The role engages with a range of internal and external stakeholders monitoring and responding to requests for services.

**What technical / soft skills you require**
- Tertiary/Trade qualifications in related field and demonstrated experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the functions of a cultural institution specifically curatorial, conservation and the exhibition requirements for a wide variety of works of art.
- Demonstrated experience working in a 'Handyperson' capacity, working particularly with a carpentry and/or repair-focus.
- Current NSW drivers’ licence.

**Targeted questions**
- Provide an example of how you have prioritised tasks to maintain a property with mínimal supervision (max 300 words)
- Provide an example of how you have identified and managed a potential hazard requiring maintenance (max 300 words)
