**About the Role**
The Centre for Advancing Journalism (CAJ) is committed to researching and promoting the sustainability of quality journalism for the benefit of society. The journalism practiced by staff informs CAJ’s highly practical and publication-focused approach to teaching and learning in both the Master of Journalism and the Master of International Journalism.
We are seeking a Lecturer in Journalism (New Media and Investigate Reporting) to join the Centre for Advancing Journalism and contribute to teaching and supervision at undergraduate, honors, and postgraduate levels, and conduct research activity appropriate to their discipline.
Responsibilities include:
- Subject (module) coordination and delivery
- Curriculum design and innovation, including cross-disciplinary approaches
- Research outputs including (but not limited to) peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, books, creative works, and commissioned reports
- Active engagement in service, leadership and coordination roles in the discipline, School, and Faculty demonstrating respectful, inclusive behaviours at all times and building trust amongst colleagues
**About You**
You will be an experienced Lecturer specialising in journalism. You will show an ability to provide administrative oversight of a degree program and the capacity to attract research grants and consultancies. You will be able to demonstrate professional and collegial behaviour of a very high standard encompassing commitment to the Faculty’s Values and Behaviours.
You will also have:
- A completed Ph.D. in a relevant discipline
- A demonstrated specialisation in journalism, in the areas of new media storytelling, investigative journalism, general news reporting, and/or finance journalism
- Demonstrated ability for excellence in teaching including the capacity for syllabus/curriculum design
- A strong record in research with a developing profile of outputs relevant to the discipline
- To ensure the University continues to provide a safe environment for everyone, this position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check._
