**The Role**
Space Command (SPACECOMD) is looking for a Security Advisor to work within No. 1 Space Surveillance Unit (1SSU), who will provide support and manage the Units security requirements. Key duties of this role include:

- Answer moderately complex protective security inquiries to assist stakeholders
- Monitor and report on protective security tasks to ensure accurate and timely advice in accordance with whole-of-Government policies
- Research and collect data and information to draft routine reports, publications, papers and submissions
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and share information
- Work collaboratively and operate as an effective team member to meet work area objectives
- Collect, interpret, evaluate and process protective security requests in accordance with Agency policy and guidelines
- Take the initiative to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and provide recommendations
- Monitor individual task progression against agreed performance expectations and deadlines to achieve quality outcomes
- Co-ordinate security and logístical aspects for all 1SSU visits, including facilities booking, communication and liaison with relevant stakeholders

Its vision is to assure Australian civil and military access in space, integrated across Government, and in concert with allies, international partners and industry.1SSU conducts Space Domain Awareness and Missile Warning functions in support of integrated and coalition forces. The capabilities employed are unique, highly specialised and attract a diverse range of security requirements and interest from domestic and allied partners. 1SSU is seeking an APS4 Security Advisor who can provide security advice and assist with visitor engagement further enhancing the unit’s reputation and operational effectiveness.
- General administrative duties
- The willingness to undertake training, in Defence Security requirements
- Writing and reviewing plans and processes
- Understanding of the need to know principle and dealing with sensitive information
- Stakeholder engagement
- Building/maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
- Strong planning/time management skills, particularly prioritisation and critical thinking.
- Judgement and a bias for action in driving outcomes, including problem solving and flexibility.
- Skilful communicator (both written and verbal).

Knowledge of Space is highly desirable but not mandatory. Some domestic travel may be required.
