**About the Business**

Our Safer Family Services team delivers a range of services, including intensive family support and multi-agency responses, to help children stay safely at home with their families and avoid the need for out-of-home care. They also help families with parenting support, workshops and connection to community events and initiatives to improve child safety and wellbeing.

**Role Details**

Safer Family Services (SFS) provides help and support to children and their families at risk of harm, neglect and family violence, by deliberately and strongly intervening to disrupt the patterns of intergenerational trauma and increase the number of children able to be cared for safely in their homes, connected to culture and community.
This is particularly relevant for children and families with multiple and complex needs.

The Supervisor, Child and Family Safety Network is a role within Child and Family Support and is accountable to the Manager, Partnerships & Integrated Practice for:

- The operation and leadership of the SFS program that will require liaising with and collaborating with senior managers, staff and external stakeholders to develop strong links with key partners to ensure comprehensive and quality program outcomes for at-risk children and their families.
- Managing, leading and guiding SFS practitioners in the delivery of high quality and effective coordination of services, interventions and strategies in partnership with local partners to support vulnerable and at
- risk unborn babies, infants, children, young people up to age 18 years and their families.
- Working strategically and systematically across government and the non-government, and community sector, in strengthening the service system, responding to mitigate and reduce trauma and harm to vulnerable and at-risk unborn babies, infants, children and young people in order to reduce the need for a statutory child protection response.
- Provide high-quality leadership that inspires and motivates others to work collaboratively in a timely manner, coordinated and systemic approach, responding to the community and business needs.
- Ensuring that services provided to families are culturally appropriate and safe; and will employ strategies to empower families and build on strengths and resilience.

Key outcomes and accountabilities:
1. Manage, lead and guide Child and Family Safety Network (CFSN) Coordinators to develop and participate in local, regional and state
- wide CFSNs with a broad range of government and non-government agencies, including engaging with key agencies to identify service gaps and vulnerable populations, and implementing joint solutions as a community response to child safety and wellbeing matters:

- Build relationships with community partners so that there is increased capacity to respond to identified family needs and to provide a range of options to achieve outcomes of safety, security and care of unborn babies, infants, children, young people and their families.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships to promote joint planning to improve outcomes for vulnerable or at-risk unborn babies, infants, children, young people, and their families.
- Understand the range of connected services provided by the department and their relevance to clients.
- Understand community capacity building and community development opportunities.

2. Provide consultation on complex, and highly sensitive cases to maintain compliance with legislative requirements and related government and departmental policies and procedures:

- Utilise evidence informed intervention methodologies, that strengthen professional standards in decision making, and provide practice supervision and reflective practice to staff.
- Utilise critical and sensitive information for guiding staff and key community stakeholders. Consult with relevant agency staff as part of case management outcomes to maintain provision of appropriate services to at-risk children and families.
- Utilise Aboriginal led cultural advice and cultural consultation to ensure that support to Aboriginal families is culturally responsive and trauma informed.

3. Provide professional leadership and operational management to the CFSN team to ensure a positive team environment by demonstrating effective leadership and sound management principles and practices that promote a positive learning environment, encouraging innovation and responsiveness to stakeholders of the CFSN and client needs.
