This opportunity will have you start at the very beginning of a new venture that plans to be the largest technology investment in Australia’s history. You will be building a new team and be involved in every aspect of developing the network for this new customer and establishing our network operations. A true Day-1 start-up experience, with the benefit of the huge capability and expertise of AWS to support you.

As Network Development Manager, you will be hiring, managing and developing a team of network engineers and be responsible for end-to-end operational health of the network; including capacity management and forecast planning, implementation, automation, process management, change control and ensuring continuous improvement. You will represent networking to our customers, ensuring we meet their needs for innovation, delivery and safe operations.

Key job responsibilities
- Operation of the network. Manage, track and report against operations and network status ensuring relevant metrics are collected and reported and driving operational excellence
- Performance management and team health. Provide both technical and soft skills mentoring, career and growth management, project management, quality audits, 1:1s, training, day-to-day oversight and coordination of an effective 24x7 operational rotation.
- Ensure that design, management, implementation and deployment operations are sound and executed at scale, safely keeping AWS ahead of customers' demand.
- Manage network issues and availability risks, ensuring they are addressed swiftly and long-term effective solutions are developed to address the route cause and avoid re-occurrence.
- Manage operations and process optimization using relevant data, metrics and dashboarding techniques.
- Continuously seek opportunities for growth and improvement and and define credible proposals and methods for implementation including contributing to AWS standard planning processes.
- Develop, communicate, and maintain project road maps.
- Seek opportunities to work with other engineering teams to improve synergies, understanding of best practices and create more opportunities for your engineers.
- Own defining and delivering goals for the team, communicating objectives, aligning resources, effective management and reporting of progress and representing status to leadership.
- Ensure best practices from AWS are adopted, and compliance with company policies and security requirements.
