**Position Information**:
Woonona High School is a comprehensive coeducational high school located in the northern suburbs of the Illawarra with a population of 850 students, 6% of whom identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. The school has a well-established Support Unit that consists of two Autism classes and one class for students with emotional disturbances. Every student is provided with opportunities to develop skills as independent and confident learners that will carry them beyond their school years.
The school community is committed to a strong learning culture with high expectations that is underpinned by evidenced based research. Current school priorities are Quality Teaching and Learning through 4Cs pedagogies, literacy, numeracy, differentiated learning and authentic assessment. There is a strong student voice and students participate in decision making, leadership, wellbeing and volunteering programs.
**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Proven ability to manage daily operations and whole school organisation through the utilisation of a variety of administration systems and processes.
2. Demonstrated capacity to construct an effective whole school timetable to meet the needs of a large complex high school.
3. Capacity to lead collaborative and strategic planning processes which respond to priorities for whole school improvement as a member of the wider executive team.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
