**Position Information**:
Warrawong High School is a diverse and dynamic school community that reflects the cultural diversity of contemporary Australia. We are part of the Lake Illawarra North network, which forms a collaborative Warrawong Community of Schools, including Cringila Public School, Lake Heights Public School, Kemblawarra Public School, Port Kembla Public School and Warrawong Public School.

The total student population of Warrawong High School is 585, which includes 46% of students with a language background other than English, 11% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.

Our staff are provided with evidence based, high impact professional development in order to deliver a curriculum focused on contemporary skill building, which supports individual student needs and our school targets in numeracy and literacy. Our learning culture has been collaboratively developed and nurtured by a student-centred approach to inform our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of TAS syllabus areas (including VET) and leadership of evaluative practices which have led to improved student outcomes for a diverse range of students, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

2. Demonstrated instructional leadership that supports colleagues to implement high quality evidence-based teaching and effective classroom management which promotes student responsibility for learning.

3. Evidence of highly developed emotional intelligence, communication, and interpersonal skills to lead and support colleagues through the management of performance and building individual capacity to deliver effective professional practice.

4. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and successfully with the school executive to lead, manage and implement systems, processes and initiatives that address whole school strategic priorities.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
