**Our journey**

The **Victorian Heart Hospital** will be Australia’s first dedicated heart hospital and is nearing its final stages of construction. It will include a full range of ambulatory and inpatient cardiac care, including cardiac theatres, cardiac catheterisation laboratories, emergency, intensive care, and ambulatory services such as cardiac CT, echocardiography and specialist consultation. It will also feature a unique, patient centred model of care. The Victorian Heart Hospital will also play a key role in advancing research and teaching and will be home to the Victorian Heart Institute, a brand new, health and medical research organisation at Monash University.

As a Monash Health hospital, the **Victorian Heart Hospital** will be uniquely positioned to provide tailored cardiovascular care for all Victorians, and specialised life-saving procedures for our community. Upon completion, Australia’s first cardiac hospital will deliver a new Monash Health standard in model of care and patient care experience.

**A day in the life**

The **Instrument Technician **provides support to the surgical staff to ensure positive patient outcome are achieved via appropriately sterilised reusable medical devices. The position depending on the level of competency and skill is responsible for:

- Cleaning, decontamination, and sterilisation of reusable medical devices in alignment with AS/NZ4187 2014 guidelines
- Transportation of reusable medical devices to and from the operating suite
- Working to the highest standards either under supervision or autonomously
- Ensuring all equipment is functioning and correctly maintained
- Cleaning of reusable medical devices is in accordance with Monash Health guidelines
- Providing efficient, safe and professional services to all stakeholders in a patient focused environment through effective committed teamwork

**What You Bring**
- Certificate 3 Sterilising Services and minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Instrument Technician in a hospital setting.
- Sound knowledge of AS/NZ 4187 and GENCA guidelines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly organised and motivated with the ability to multitask in a busy workplace
- Ability to prioritise and a high attention to detail
- Team orientated
- Able to work any shift work including night shift
