**The Role**

As a Category Specialist you will be primarily responsible for managing the strategic procurement plan to ensure the business growth objectives. You will be involved in the establishment, placement and management of contracting arrangements with suppliers to deliver the optimum service, quality, cost, schedule and safety requirements for the business, combined with relationship and performance management to achieve enhanced business value.

Reporting to the Head of Legal & Procurement you will be responsible for managing existing contractual arrangements, negotiating with suppliers on changes for contractual terms for both opex and capex for your assigned categories. The role will also encompass developing the go to market strategy and business requirements, managing the supplier evaluation process, conduct supplier negotiations, finalise commercial agreements and the transition phase.

You must be able to demonstrate previous experience with developing sourcing strategies to optimise the supply base and enhance the TCO of external spend, as well as identifying and managing supply chain risks and opportunities across categories.

The Category Specialist will also conduct and lead business reviews with the suppliers and operations, coordinate standardisation and best practices across our Parks network.

**Your Experience**

At least 3+ years demonstrated work experience in Procurement is essential as is possessing highly developed communication skills including verbal, written and presentation.

You must be able to prove previous experience with developing and negotiating contracts. Having a solid track record of managing supplier performance, whilst maximising cost savings is essential.

A professional qualification in Procurement (CIPSA) is not essential but desirable.

To be successful in this role you must possess a high level of energy, self-motivation, decisiveness, initiative, flexibility and attention to detail to be able to meet our growing business demands at Discovery Parks. Your naturally upbeat and open style will fit our cultural values. You will have a highly organised mindset, with the ability to assess the urgency of work allocated to you by various stakeholders whilst working closely with our established Procurement Team.
