**Division Responsibilities**

Cancer, Hearing and Chronic Diseases Division is responsible for
- being the central coordination point for cancer matters in the department and

managing cancer screening programs and services including producing evidence
- based policy, and delivering best practice cancer care initiatives
- the management of the National Cancer Screening Register through our service

provider including the transition of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Register
- administering the Australian Government Hearing Services Program and providing

policy advice on hearing health.
- administering the Australian Government Chronic Disease Program and providing

policy advice to prevent/manage chronic diseases.

**Branch Responsibilities**

The Hearing Services and Chronic Diseases Branch supports eligible Australians with hearing

loss or chronic diseases to remain independent and participate in their communities. The

key role of the branch is to administer the Hearing Services Program and Chronic Disease

Program. The branch also has a role in developing and providing advice on

preventing/managing chronic/hearing health and is currently supporting an external policy

review of the programs as well as the implementation of program reforms.

**Section Responsibilities**

The Hearing Policy & Compliance Section is responsible for the development of policy

relating to the Hearing Services Program, program reforms (including the hearing services

review and roadmap), budget monitoring and forecasting, and regular data reporting,

program performance monitoring. Hearing Compliance conducts activities under the

program’s compliance framework including education and awareness activities and

compliance monitoring of providers.***

**Key Responsibilities**

Key Responsibilities Under general direction and in accordance with business priorities, key

responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

- managing routine and ad hoc data reporting requirements
- developing SAS code to support bespoke data and reporting needs
- assisting with monitoring and analysing the performance of the Program
- assisting with data informed risk profiling to support compliance monitoring

activities***
- developing and maintaining data dictionaries and standard operating procedures
- assisting with program modelling and forecasting.

**Key Capabilities**
- Demonstrated experience using approved software/tools (such as SAS, SQL PowerBI)

to extract, analyse and report program data.
- Capability to analyse data and present finding in a meaningful and accessible way to

inform policy and/or program development.
- Demonstrated planning and organisational skills, including ability to meet deadlines

with competing priorities and delivering work to a high standard.
- Demonstrated capacity to work well as part of a small team and independently.***

**Desirable Experience**
- Well-developed knowledge and programming skills (with SAS, SQL, or R, STATA etc).
- Previous work experience in data analytic roles.
- Well-developed knowledge in data management, data analysis and other statistical

methods.
