Assistant Head of English

**Full-time, fixed-term, three-year appointment**
This position requires an educator with experience teaching English across Years 7 to 12 to join a department that is committed to fostering the pursuit of knowledge. It is a discipline which encourages each boy to achieve his potential and, through the promotion of wide reading and critical and creative thinking, develop a broad understanding of his own values and world views.
The Assistant Head of Department is responsible for the everyday working of the Department in the teaching, learning and assessment of students in three-year groups.
All staff are expected to support the ethos of the School, possess excellent teaching and interpersonal skills, will have an exceptional understanding of innovative educational pedagogy and show an understanding of boys’ educational teaching and learning practices.
It is an expectation of the School that all members of staff contribute to the co-curricular program in a way that balances the needs of the School and the successful applicant’s talents and interests. Similarly, staff are expected to be fully supportive of their pastoral responsibilities in a School that values highly the care of the individual within a House system that is vertically organised into tutor groups.
