**ABOUT THE BRANCH & SECTION**
The **PGPA and Digital Reporting Branch**, within Governance Division, provides guidance and advice to Commonwealth entities on their accountability and reporting obligations under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act) and government policy framework. The Branch maintains the Commonwealth’s performance reporting and annual reporting frameworks and supports the development of better practice for each of these. It also gives practical guidance and advice to Commonwealth entities on governance and accountability issues. It is responsible for the Governance Structures Policy.
The Branch provides expert advice to all Commonwealth entities on the PGPA Act and obligations under the PGPA framework. It issues guidance using a digital first approach and is building a significant web presence to provide targeted technical information to support those working in and with government bodies.
The Branch consists of five teams:
- Performance
- Digital Reporting
- PGPA Communications
- PGPA Advisory
- Evaluation.
The teams work collaboratively and are responsible for annual reports, digital annual reporting and the Transparency Portal (transparency.gov.au), the Australian Government Organisations Register, Resource Management Guides, and other website based guidance, governance issues, and legislative amendments, providing PGPA framework advice and assisting in policy matters.
The
**Digital Reporting Section** is a multi-disciplinary team that has responsibility for the several public sector transparency services including transparency.gov.au, structure.gov.au, and the Finance Knowledge Graph.
- Transparency.gov.au is the central source of data and corporate information included in Commonwealth entity and company annual reports and includes information about annual financial and non-financial performance, executive remuneration, audit committees, and public regulatory activities
- Structure.gov.au is an alpha-stage website that presents combined views of governance and budgetary characteristics in a simple and readable way for a wide variety of audiences
- Finance Knowledge Graph is a prototype of the use of knowledge graphs to enable insights about government organisations. This data system uses Linked Data technologies to federate data assets held by the Department of Finance and allow these to be managed in order to create an unprecedented representation of government.
**ABOUT THE**
**OPPORTUNITY**
The Digital Annual Reporting Team is seeking an APS 6 policy and project officer to work in an agile team that oversees the Transparency Portal and the Annual Reporting policy for Australian Government entities and companies.
The position is in the Digital Annual Reporting Team in Finance which has two significant responsibilities:
- Administration and support of the whole of government Transparency Portal and the Digital Annual Reporting Tool, including responsibility for the management and interpretation of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act) and Rule with respect to annual reporting requirements
- Providing assistance and policy advice to support the Finance Knowledge Graph project.
- Manage communities of practice and answer queries from Commonwealth entities and companies
- Engage with government and private sector service providers to maintain and improve digital annual reporting tools
- Assist stakeholders move to digital ways of working
- Actively participate in digital transformation - relating to how the Australian Government maintains its transparency and accountability.
