Join the University of Melbourne as an Animal Technician, where you'll play a vital role in supporting cutting-edge biomedical research. You'll contribute to the care and management of various animal species, ensuring their well-being while facilitating groundbreaking research projects. **Your responsibilities will include**:
- Animal Care and Husbandry: Provide exceptional care and husbandry for various animal species, ensuring their well-being and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Research Support: Assist researchers with experimental procedures, breeding strategies, and data collection, ensuring adherence to ethical and regulatory standards.
- Facility Management: Maintain accurate records, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and contribute to the smooth operation of the animal facilities.
- Training and Collaboration: Assist in training staff and students, and work collaboratively with researchers and technical staff to promote a positive working culture.

You are a dedicated and compassionate individual with a strong background in animal care, possessing excellent attention to detail and a commitment to promoting animal welfare in a research setting.
**You may also**:
- Possess a relevant degree or diploma in Animal Technology or a related field, with a minimum of three years of experience working in animal care.
- Demonstrate a high level of practical experience with the care and use of animals in a research setting, including breeding techniques and manipulative procedures.
- Have a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements, including the "Code," Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, OGTR, and DAWR guidelines, as well as OHS guidelines.
- Possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with researchers and technical staff.
- Be reliable, able to work independently and as part of a team, and willing to work weekends and public holidays as required.

The platform offers a high standard of service to UoM researchers combined with best practice in animal care and welfare. Bioresources staff maybe required to work across a number of different animal facilities within the Parkville Campus and with the AgriBio PC3 facility at Bundoora
