By attracting, developing, and engaging the best team of diverse, empowered associates, we help realize life's potential for ourselves, our customers and our shareholders. **Position Summary** Overall responsibility for the Electronics Engineering group to provide support in the technical leadership and build competency at Leica Biosystems ensuring high quality products are developed and maintained in accordance with the applicable quality system requirements. Play an active part in the HW engineering leadership group (core team of HW engineering managers and team leads). **Major Responsibilities** - Define and maintain the electronics engineering methods and approaches to be adopted in the development and/or maintenance of hardware for LBS products. - Direct and authorise electronics engineering approach on all projects and programs either directly or through delegation of authority. - Direct and authorise the establishment and maintenance of the engineering technology roadmap. - Recruitment of skilled engineers in line with program and business needs with a focus to establish and team capable of high performance. - Performance assessment of engineers in line with Danaher performance appraisal process. - Professional development of engineers in order to meet the requirements of LBS objectives and engagement. - Allocation of suitably qualified and trained engineers to programs in line with business priorities. - Establish and continuously improve engineering processes and procedures in line with quality assurance and regulatory requirements. - Ensure compliance is maintained with applicable regulatory requirements. - Budget setting, tracking, and forecasting for the engineering cost centre. - Management and renewal of engineering tool licenses. - Standard of professionalism and cleanliness in all engineering areas. **Required Education, Experience** - Graduate or post-graduate qualification in engineering (Electrical/Electronic) - Minimum 10 years experience in engineering with minimum of 5+ years management and or program management experience **Skills** - A thorough understanding of the product development life cycle and associated processes. - Demonstrated leadership skills with an ability to motivate and inspire people to meet their potential. - Highly developed documentation and communication skills. - Track record of solving complex problems technical or else - Broad knowledge of engineering tools including tools to manage requirements definition, design and quality assurance tools. - Experience in design transfer from Research and Development / New Product Development to released product / sustaining. - Experience in Value Analysis / Value Engineering - Experience in engineering obsolescence management - Able to assemble and manage highly effective teams including performance review and management skill. - Experience in managing a budget to the value of $10M **Travel**: Minimal < 10% **Competencies/Behaviors** - Strong track record of people management - A continuous improvement mindset - Creates an inclusive environment that treats all with respect - Flexible and adaptable to changing environment and needs - Approachable and enthusiastic individual **Scope of the Role** Supervisory Responsibility: Management Approximate Direct Reports: 8 Approximate Indirect Reports: Nil Domestic/International/Global: Limited **Physical Demands & Working Environment** The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
