The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Project Officer to provide a critical role in the Aboriginal Workforce Strategy Team.
This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
About the business unit
The Aboriginal Workforce Strategy Team (AWST) sits within the People, Safety and Culture group and is responsible for the development and delivery of the department's Aboriginal Employment strategy and associated talent programs.
AWST provides ongoing support to Aboriginal employees and manages a range of Aboriginal employment initiatives. The AWST also contributes towards the innovation of new programs and policies to strengthen career development and cultural diversity and inclusion across the department.
About the role
As the Project Officer, you will contribute to the development to new programs and continuous improvement of existing programs. You will assist in effectively implement and coordinate efficient project administration programs including facilitating Expression of Interest processes and developing program guidelines.
Reporting to Manager Aboriginal Workforce Strategy, you will also be required to provide ongoing project and administrative support in assisting in the delivery of projects that are culturally appropriate and responsive, as well as promotion of all Aboriginal Justice updates across the AEN (Aboriginal Employee Network). Additionally, you will be responsible to coordinate delivery of the annual Aboriginal Employee Network Conference.
This role involves occasional travel within Victoria.
**Some of your duties will include**:
- Coordinate and action the implementation of appropriate and relevant cultural supports to programs and services
- Provide project management support to deliver events, launches, meetings and functions and prepare minutes, agendas and other relevant documents for AET
- Develop, implement and coordinate efficient project administration systems and processes including supporting corporate knowledge management processes
- Provide project management support to assist in meeting agreed project objectives, deliverables and timelines
- Assist with the development of project or program planning, including delivering reports and updates for key stakeholders
- Actively support and promote a positive and culturally safe workplace culture and practices
- Project manage key employment initiatives under the department's Aboriginal Employment and Career Strategy
- Establish and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and government agency counterparts, in relation to planning, project management and support functions
- Assist with the development of project and program planning, including delivering reports and updates for key stakeholders

**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
- A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community and the issues impacting on it.
- A demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal Community.
- Demonstrated experience developing implementing and coordinate efficient project administration systems and processes.
- Demonstrated experience supporting business and finance processes and operations or ability to rapidly acquire skills.
