**Role Summary**

Northern Trust Securities is a Global brokerage business with trading desks in Sydney, London and Chicago. Our experienced team, integrated technology and vast reach offers our Institutional clients an Agency only global execution platform they can leverage for a broad set of trading solutions and significant economies of scale.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Northern Trust Securities team in Sydney. Our traders perform a critical function executing single stock and portfolio trades across Asia Pacific Equity markets. This role will suit someone looking to fast track their education in financial markets offering exposure to our Global Institutional clients, Regional Brokers and internal partners across Sales Trading, Transition Management and Operations teams.

This role will report to Head of Trading, APAC.

**What you will do**:

- Receive, confirm instruction and Execute Equities orders across 18 Asia Pacific markets on behalf of our Global Institutional clients via Algorithmic, DMA, Dark Pool and other Broker desk channels.
- Follow Best Execution principals and strategies to minimize the cost of trade implementation.
- Use Trade Cost Analysis pre-trade, intra-day and post trade to record, measure and review trading performance.
- Become familiar with our systems and contribute ideas as we evolve and strive for better process and efficiency.
- Liaise closely with Internal partners including Traders, Sales Traders, Operations and Technology teams globally.
- Assist the Sales Trading team with news flow, market wraps and communicating directly with clients regarding intraday updates and order status.
- Understand the market structure of each market we trade in detail. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulatory rules and responsibilities.
- Always maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy with a constant focus on managing risk.

**About You**
- Strong interest and passion for Financial Markets
- Technological proficiency, Data Science, Coding (Python)
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, attention to detail and diligence.
- The ability to effectively problem solve, prioritise day to day objectives and be adaptable in an environment where every day can be different.
- A degree in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or similar and/or experience in Financial markets

**Additional skills an advantage**
- Electronic trading experience using Algorithms and an Execution Management System (EMS).
- An understanding of Asia Pacific Equity market structure including both trading and settlement processes.
