About the Role:
The Salvation Army Australia is seeking to appoint a Schools Engagement Coordinator’s on a permanent part time (0.5 FTE) basis to join The Salvation Army’s Victorian Schools Engagement Team.

In this position, you will be required to deliver a range of workshops and resources to schools regarding social justice and the work of The Salvation Army. In addition to facilitating workshops for young people, you will have the opportunity to assist with content development and influence the delivery of our social justice programs.

The role requires some administrative tasks, including maintaining the school bookings register. This position predominately operates from the ‘Salvos Schools’ CBD Classroom, where the Schools Engagement Team frequently delivers the popular ‘Youth Homelessness City Tour’ program.

Key Responsibilities:

- Positively facilitate school tours, workshops, presentations & activities as well as maintaining the school bookings register
- Promote the Schools Engagement Team in various forms of internal and external communications
- Engage schools and students support and participation in fundraising activities
- Maximize schools participation in fundraising, volunteering and advocacy campaigns
- Maintain programs and ensure data and information remains current and meaningful
- Assist in developing and organising relevant educational teacher oriented expos and conferences; and resources
- Conduct other support and administrative activities as required
- Ensure that Child Safety reporting procedures are adhered to

About you:

- Tertiary qualifications in education, youth work, community development or related fields and/or equivalent skills gained from relevant experience
- Exceptional youth facilitation skills and a passion for social justice
- An empathetic approach to talking about sensitive social issues with young people
- Ability to advocate for and positively represent the organisation in forums including public speaking and written communications
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in engaging with young people
- Sound knowledge of social justice challenges
- Capacity to complete administrative tasks effectively
