Horticulture is a rapidly growing industry in Australia, with a 40 percent rise in value over the past five years. That growth is expected to continue with the sector’s farm gate production having the potential to increase to $20 billion by 2030. To support this growth, it’s vital the nation’s horticulture Research and Development Corporation is constantly refining communications approaches to service levy payers.

Hort Innovation are wanting to expand its pool of meeting minute takers for their industry consultant panels. If you believe the accurate recording of meetings that, discuss and propertise research, development, marketing and trade is important and helps in supporting industries in identifying needs and solving the problems that deliver economic, social and environmental outcomes for producers and the broader industry we would love to hear from you.

The roles will be contracted and any travel and accommodation that is required to fulfill the minute-taking role will be paid for by Hort Innovation. This position is casual, with peak activity occurring in May/June/July annually and occasional busier periods throughout the year. This position is open in both metropolitan (Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Darwin, Adelaide, and Perth) and rural areas across the country.

**Who is Hort Innovation?**

Hort Innovation is the grower-owned not-for-profit Research and Development Corporation for Australia’s horticulture sector, servicing 37 horticulture industries and some 12,000 Australian grower businesses.

We serve Australian businesses that produce fruits, nuts, vegetables, and amenities such as turf and nursery products. At any one time, Hort Innovation has 600 projects in the pipeline across research, development, extension, marketing and trade. Our aim is to drive a prosperous Australian horticultural industry built on innovation and demand solutions.

**Responsibilities and duties of the role are**:

- Take meeting minutes for online and face to face industry advisory panel meetings in regional and city locations nationally. Ensuring the following:

- Provide a formal account of attendees, conflicts of interest, issues discussed, agreed recommendations and action items and who is responsible.
- Work in partnership with the Hort Innovation Industry Services and Delivery Manager (ISDM) and the Chair in ensuring meeting minutes are of a high standard and portray an accurate account of meetings held.
- Prepare a formal version of notes taken using the Hort Innovation template provided.
- Send meeting minutes to the industry IDSM for review and feedback as soon as possible after the meeting has been held and make any necessary changes to the minutes promptly.
- Ensure confidentiality of meeting minutes
- Be aware of and raise any personal conflicts of interest (perceived or real) prior to meetings.
- Operate within Hort Innovations policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Embody Hort Innovations Grow values.

**The following experience, skills and abilities are necessary for someone to fill this position**:

- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in minute taking for committees/ boards.
- Minute taking for scientific, marketing and or agriculture/horticultural sectors will be looked on favorably.
- Excellent listening skills
- Clear and concise taking of meeting minutes.
- Act in a professional manner and have the ability to be impartial.
- Actively seek clarification on points
- Ability to organize minutes effectively.
- Use of appropriate language in the minutes, that is relevant to the meeting participants
- Ability to document the important aspects of the meeting discussions without too much detail.
- Knowledge of panel/ committee governance processes
