The Colac Salvos Thrift Shop is great place to find fantastic bargains including quality clothing, essential home items, toys and books fully sourced by local donations. With our strong model of “People over Product,” the shop contributes all profits to funding vital community initiatives and programs across the area and the Corps.

Why this role matters

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a values-driven and proactive Thrift Shop Assistant to assist the Thrift Shop Manager to lead and develop the store to maximize profits and strengthen links between Community Support Services, the wider community and Corps.

Key responsibilities include:

- Deliver excellence in customer service by responding to customer needs, and actively seeking opportunities to connect customers to TSA mission
- Ensure that the shop operates efficiently and effectively in the absence of the manager
- Supervise volunteers in the absence of the Manager
- Monitor shop for security purposes
- Open shop on time and close the shop at the end of trading
- Assist with the store financial processes including completion of daily cash reconciliation, preparation of cash floats and banking
- Greet all customers in a warm and inviting manner

Reporting to the Thrift Shop Manager this position is located on 100 Bromfield St, Colac.

This is a part time position, 5 hours per week. Roster per week is 9am-2pm Saturdays. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with General Retail Industry Award Level 3.

What we're looking for
- Certificate in Retail Operations / Diploma of Business (desirable)
- Experience working with volunteers (desirable)
- Retail experience with demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service to ensure customers’ needs are met with dignity and respect
- Basic working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
