**About the Role**
The Congestion Surveillance and Audit Officer team provides on road, effective surveillance and audit functions of planned or unplanned road related activity or traffic incidents that may impact flow of traffic on metropolitan arterial roads. With the importance of these key road links and current levels of traffic demand, many incidents now lead to major traffic disruptions and involve significant interactions with other agencies as well as various sections within DTP.

**Position Outcomes**
The ideal applicant will have fundamental risk management skills, applied critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, advanced capabilities in managing challenging conversations, fundamental stakeholder management skills, and personal characteristics such as teamwork and flexibility/adaptability.
- Exercised professional independent judgement in the provision of critical incident response and traffic management services on arterial roads, including the surveillance and audit of road worksites in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.
- Provided factual and authoritative interpretation of legislative requirements contained within the Road Management Act, the Road Safety Act, the Tow Act and other relevant legislation and regulations
- Applied sound assessment to identify incidents which have the potential to cause serious traffic or safety issues and coordinate the provision of appropriate resources to safely manage the incident
- Assisted to ensure that clearway restrictions are maintained. Provided regular status information to the Traffic Management Centre during incidents that is clear, concise and accurate.
- Effectively liaised and collaborated with other agencies and stakeholders to optimise outcomes and minimise community impacts, including participating in internal briefings and proactively following up to ensure outstanding action items are completed
**Qualifications and Experience**
**Mandatory**
- Extensive relevant work experience in surveillance and audit of traffic management and/or road construction
- Demonstrate technical proficiency in a wide range of areas including traffic management standards, road management act requirements, road safety act requirements, safety and risk management.
- Prepare Work Zone Traffic Management Plan certification
- Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card)
- Level 2 First Aid certificate
**Desirable**
- Certificate 3 in Government Investigation is desirable although not mandatory.
