**Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist - Maternity**

**Ongoing Position**
**Multiple full time or part time roles availalbe.**

**In addition to the quality improvment specialsit role, the successful applicant will be required to work at least one clinical shift per week in Maternity services**

The successful applicant will work across the Quality and Safety team and the Maternity Services team

The purpose of the Women’s Quality and Safety Unit is to contribute to the achievement of the Women’s strategic plan and position the Women’s as a leader in quality, safety and clinical excellence by:

- Elevating the patient voice and advocating for patients
- Prioritising, leading and driving improvement activity
- Creating a psychologically safe environment and developing and embedding systems to improve patient safety
- Embedding robust clinical governance, risk and compliance practices
- Leading and inspiring our organisation through building on our strengths, harnessing our expertise and disseminating our knowledge and learnings

The Women’s maternity service cares for a mix of high, medium and low risk pregnancies, covering the whole continuum of care from antenatal care, birth, postnatal care through to home-based visits.

**Your contribution**
- Work collaboratively with the clinical leaders and other key stakeholders to identify, scope, design, plan, evaluate and report on quality improvement initiative
- Promote a culture of collaborative improvement and innovation and facilitate the delivery of relevant education, training, coaching and professional support in relation to each quality improvement initiative.
- Assess the effectiveness and appropriateness of current workflows, tools and guidelines and plan and implement improvements
- Build capability amongst the clinical staff, supporting others to participate and engage in quality improvement projects (e.g. participating in audits, guideline review, delivering training etc
- Utilise the women’s standardised systems, tools and processes for operational projects and change management.
- Convene working groups, workshops, focus groups etc to ensure staff and consumers are engaged as active participants in quality improvement activities.
- Coordinate, support and contribute to meetings related to quality improvement (e.g. Maternity Services Quality and Safety Committee and sub-committees, Incident Review meetings, EMR enhancement meetings, Safer Care Victoria Collaborations etc). This may include preparing reports, completing meeting actions and contributing to the smooth running and productivity of the meetings.

**About you**

To be successful within this role you will need to have:
- Registration as a Midwife / Nurse in Australia (with min 3 years post registration experience).
- Able to work at least one clinical shift per week in the Women’s Maternity Service
- Demonstrated advanced clinical skills, respected as a clinical expert.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence others
- Experience in facilitating groups and workshops.
- Experience in project management, improvement initiatives or change management
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health care team
