About the School
Toowoomba State High School is a secondary school with 950 students from a wide range of backgrounds. The school has a proud history of high academic attainment and upholds traditional values. Students have the opportunity to pursue their interests via a diverse range of programs in academia, sport, music, the arts, language and community engagement. Student support team consists of Dean of Senior Secondary, Dean of Junior Secondary, two full time Guidance Officers, Youth Support Worker, School Based Health Nurse, School based Police-Officer and Chaplain. The support team works closely with Clontarf Academy, CEC and Industry Placement Officer.
About the Role
Toowoomba State High School requires an additional Guidance Officer to work as part of the Support team, who has demonstrated:

- Secondary schooling experience, including current working knowledge of QCE, AARA and ATAR systems
- Experience supporting students from diverse backgrounds including EALD/refugee students and complex case management
- Communication, self-direction and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as well as part of a team

**As a Guidance Officer, you have the opportunity to**:

- Provide professional expertise, leadership and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomes; and
- Collaboratively negotiate, develop and implement programs for students that have a focus on preventative and early intervention strategies, are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional and educational needs, and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development.
