**About the role**
APS5 Data Analyst (2 Vacancies)
**About the team - Technology Management Branch**
Medicare and Aged Care Systems Branch guarantees Australians access to accurate, timely and affordable government-funded services for many Australian citizens. Key functions of the branch are to:
- Maintain technology systems that support claims and payment calculations of Medicare patient claims, Medicare bulk billing, private health insurance rebate, simplified billing, and Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) claims.
- Maintain the agency's technology systems for the payments of Aged Residential Care supporting senior Australians who can no longer live independently at home.
- Assist Health and Aged Care sector software vendors/developers with providing production technical support, diagnosing and resolving technical issues during the development and testing of their software to ensure safe and successful interactions with the agency.
**Tenure**
The roles are full-time, non-ongoing/ongoing, non-ongoing contracts for up to 18 months.

**What you will do
The Data Analyst understands customer’s data requirements and can analyse matching scenarios within the data management tools. They support the control of data management processes and perform administrative, technical and customising tasks in the data environment. The Data Analyst works under the general direction and support of senior staff.
They exercise a degree of independent judgement and make decisions within defined parameters that require reliance on skills and knowledge. They plan their own work and contribute to teamwork goals in the context of competing priorities, and changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.
**As a Data Analyst, you will work as part of a multi-skilled team. Duties may include some or all of the following**:
- allocate work to team members, using judgement to match issue complexity and staff capability, and reduce peaks and troughs in workload
- perform administrative, technical and customising tasks in the data environment
- support and assist with the data management process including loading, creating, maintaining, and distributing data
- assist in the processing of data including matching and maintaining specific object data
- provide input to the development of data standards and strategy for the solution
- conduct audits to ensure data quality
- detect data inconsistencies and utilise defined error-handling procedures
- resolve data integration issues related to data in their area of expertise
- assist with establishing and maintaining data business rules and security specifications
- help establish data retention criteria
- assess, define, integrate and coordinate data coming from multiple operational systems
- assist in development of and execution of data quality programs
- prepare correspondence such as reports, corporate and technical documentation for review by senior staff
- provide broad data modelling support for project build, test and implementation activities
- assist with the design of documented data modelling solutions
- collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective and timely implementation of projects
- contribute to the development and implementation of improvements and best practice in processes and procedures
- escalate issues as required and suggest alternative approaches
- exercise appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines
