**About the role**:
DCS Legal is offering an exciting opportunity for a Legal Practice Manager to lead the legal operations strategy that supports our lawyers to deliver a broad range of legal work efficiently, including matters of significance to both the Department and the NSW Government.
Working closely with the General Counsel and our Legal Leadership team, this role will see you develop, implement and improve legal operations processes and procedures, as well as working with other Department of Customer Services (DCS) business units and
NSW Government agencies to ensure best practice transformation and change initiatives are being considered as part of the DCS Legal strategic plan.
This role ensures ‘smooth operations’ for the legal function by:
- Assessing where Legal Operations functions can improve, designing and implementing new processes, policy and procedure manuals;
- Co-ordinating the configuration and improvement of the legal practice management system;
- Implementing/improving operational and financial analysis and reporting tools;
- Monitoring and improving our document naming conventions and precedent management processes;
- Preparing reports for the Audit Office and Whole of Government Legal Services Panel;
- Leading Legal Business Continuity planning;
- Supporting business and strategic planning in the context of legal operations; and
- Supporting the General Counsel in her role as a member of the Corporate Services Executive Leadership Team.
**About the Team**:
DCS is responsible for key NSW Government functions, including SafeWork NSW, NSW Fair Trading, the NSW Building Commissioner, State Insurance Regulatory Authority, Service NSW, whole-of-government digital and cyber security services, and the operation of government telecommunications. DCS Legal provides a wide range of services including advice; support for legislative projects; the preparation of commercial agreements; supporting digital projects; regulatory prosecutions and administrative law litigation. Solicitors in the team work independently and with more senior lawyers to assist clients in relation to major projects and specific requests, as well as maintaining registers and precedent systems and training materials. We support team members in their learning and development.
**Who you are?**
We are looking for someone with demonstrated experience in working with a range of stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
You will need to have a strong systems and records management focus, while also being able to provide executive support, write briefs, adapt to emerging issues and changing priorities, in the context of ensuring optimal customer service. Experience working in a legal environment would be a plus but is not essential.
You will have the following relevant experience and skills:
- Administrative operations management and/or inhouse legal practice experience
- Experience in change management, monitoring and measuring transformation outcomes.
- Strong liaison and influencing skills, including senior stakeholder engagement experience
- Strong understanding of records management and/or legal practice management systems
- Strong, plain English, writing skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work with autonomy and as part of a team, work across multiple teams, manage competing priorities, have a flexible approach and project management skills.
- A collaborative approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A growth mindset, so that you can adapt new learnings to support the outcomes that DCS Legal seek to deliver.

- 35 hours a week with accrued flex time
- Salary range: $139,787 - $161,663 (+Super and +Leave Loading)

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $139787 base plus superannuation
