You are looking for an opportunity to manage and grow a small dental practice business and not be micro-managed.
You will be entrusted to do your job without someone constantly looking over your shoulder.
You like people, can manage people, tell them what to do when required and ensure they do their roles.
You like to grow and expand the companies you work for and love watching the statistics increase.
You have experience managing dental practices and are familiar with roles such as customer service, reception, scheduling, invoicing, accounts, data entry, etc.
You don’t mind working without direction and can manage your workday and weekly schedule and help your staff do the same.
You can hold and manage meetings. You don’t mind holding people accountable and getting them to work. You like talking to people and ensuring they are doing well. At the same time, you can crack the whip and get people to meet their targets
You are interested in business and like improving systems, streamlining workflows and helping people do more work with less effort.,
You are interested in learning and actively learn all the time whether it be software, procedures, policy or something else.
You like teaching people how to do things and can be patient while getting people to learn procedures and policies.
You take care in your work and pride yourself on high quality—none of “near enough” is good enough.
As this is a small business, you are willing to “get your hands dirty” and do roles while staff are being hired and trained. As more staff are hired and established, you will move to management.
**The role is Business Manager/Practice Manager with Dentique Dental Spa.**
This is a varied and busy role with lots of room for expansion.
The business is rebuilding its personnel after losing them during the pandemic, so you will work closely with the owner dentist to manage and oversee the expansion of the business while she focuses on patients and the delivery of dental treatment. The business has a large clientele and needs to scale up to fully service them once again. There are many opportunities to rapidly grow the practice.
A non-negotiable requirement of this role is that you can do every role beneath you. Only then can you manage most effectively. So the first few months will require learning and doing all aspects of the business. For example, you may have to answer phones, schedule patients, issue accounts and collect fees while hiring staff and then grooving them in. Being a professional dental practice, a high level of personal presentation is required.
Other functions may include working with the marketing team to get the best out of them, organising lunches and functions from time to time, handling staff issues, motivating staff, etc.
There is no problem hiring staff quickly. The owner needs help to get this done so that she can focus on her patients. You will be responsible for ensuring the new staff are put on the job and performing their roles. You will also be assisted by a business coach/consultant who can fill in gaps in your knowledge and assist in effective processes to do the above.
Many company policies and procedures exist, and you will need to be able to read them, implement them, and then get the staff to do the same. Once you have learned how the owner wants the company to run and it is smoothly operating and growing, you will be encouraged to improve operations and streamline the business in accordance with the owner's vision.
The company measures performance using statistics. Every role in the practice is measured. Part of this role is to hold yourself and staff accountable and perform. These are used for bonuses.
