**Environmental Health Technical Officer**

An exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join Greater Shepparton City Council’s Environmental Health team to perform the role of Environmental Health Technical Officer.

This important public health protection role requires the person to undertake surveillance and monitoring activities of potential mosquito breeding sites within the natural environment of Greater Shepparton area, and an understanding of the relationship of the seasonal weather conditions on potential mosquitoes breeding sites in order to protect the community from mosquito borne diseases. The information gathered from your mosquito surveillance activities will inform the Department of Health on broader state-wide mosquito prevention activities for the community.

The Environmental Health Technical Officer is also a regulatory role that requires inspections of tobacco retailers, outdoor dining areas, playgrounds and public swimming pools to ensure compliance with the _Tobacco Act 1987_ and _Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008. _

This position would suit someone who enjoys working outdoors, has experience in chemical handling, is comfortable talking to businesses about compliance with legislation, proficient in the use of computers and demonstrates attention to detail when generating and analysing reports. Training will be provided for this diverse role.
