**About the role**
We are searching for a Team Leader to join our Bar Heat Treatment Department.

This key leadership role holds responsibility for the shift operations within the heat treatment areas of the business, and will be overseeing the safety, performance, and maintenance/ planning of shift personnel and quality product output. The heat treatment team ensures materials are treated in accordance with specifications and optimised furnace loads, for best balance of production schedule and furnace capacities.

Your expertise in planning and stakeholder management will be key to your success in ensuring there is sufficient heat treated bar available, for the continuous operations of other departments. Key responsibilities will include;
- Bar Heat Treatment:

- Coordinate operational resources to meet the schedulers plan for required size and grades to be heat treated in the available furnaces
- Schedule maintenance for all furnaces and furnace bearers
- Stock control of pre-heat treatment feed bar
- Coordinate transportation of feed bar, both pre-and post heat treatment
- General Heat Treatment:

- Liaising with internal Product Metallurgists to ensure heat treatment is conducted in accordance with the specifications for particular products
- Prepare for hardness testing of heat treated products
- Coordinate furnace availability and product storage and transport
- Customer Ingots:

- Liaise with internal stakeholders to arrange storage and preparation of customer and axle ingots for receipt and transport
- Liaise with external Transport companies to coordinate loading and unloading of ingots and forgings
- Team Leadership:

- Manage ongoing team performance, training, and development to achieve optimal productivity
- Review and approve timesheets and leave requests
- Team development and ensuring relevant SOPs are signed off
- Identifying and coaching our ‘next leaders’
- Lead projects, including improvement, special orders and development
- Continuous Improvement
- Monitor departmental data and identify process improvement opportunities
- Make recommendations to management on the beneficial initiatives
- Lead the design and implementation of initiatives to address these issues
- Ensure change management processes are managed efficiently and with mínimal resistance

**About you**
The team leader of this role is required to demonstrate the following key attributes:

- Qualifications and experience within a mechanical engineering or a mechanical trade (essential)
- Demonstrated experience within heavy industry is preferred
- Extensive experience in operations management within a manufacturing setting
- Demonstrated experience in leading a multi-disciplined team
- Experience interpreting data and trends, and making recommendations on timely and cost-effective solutions
- A strong background in planning and scheduling processes
- Demonstrated role modelling of safety behaviours and excellent safety outcomes within a manufacturing environment
- Sound computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite)
