The UNSW Institute for Climate Risk and Response (ICRR) brings together expertise from across the Faculties of Science, Business and Law and Justice. In partnership with industry, it will drive an innovative research agenda, and be a focus of debate on the risks and opportunities of our changing climate. As a leading voice in climate risk and response both nationally and in the Asia-Pacific it will inform end-users' risk management frameworks and allow robust planning regarding the impacts of climate change for business, government and policy makers.

A specialist External Engagement team provides specific support for each Faculty. The faculty-based EE team works alongside central areas such as events, alumni, news & content, and internal communications, assisting the Faculty to build its reputation and networks of influence.

The News & Content team is responsible for harnessing communications and creative capability to help The Faculty and UNSW reach key audiences in a way that positions UNSW as a global leader in higher education and meets key strategic goals.

The role of the News & Content Coordinator (Institute for Climate Risk & Response) supports the development of multimedia content for the Institute and the News & Content team.

**About the role**
- **$100K - $119K plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading**
- **Fixed Term - 17 months (to June 30th, 2026)**
- **Part-time (21 hours per week)**

This position reports into the External Engagement Manager, has a dotted line with the Institute Manager, UNSW Institute for Climate Risk & Response and has no direct reports.

**Specific responsibilities for this role include**:
**LEVEL 6**:

- Participate fully within the External Engagement Team, contributing to creating a respected and valued resource. Deliver a highly customer-focused service and demonstrate commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
- Provide support to the Institute Manager and External Engagement Manager to deliver the agreed news and content strategies of the Institute, The Faculty and University, across all forms of content, including video production and social media.
- Contribute to the creation, coordination, and curation of all content for the Institute team, across channels. Content covers a range of formats and is targeted at various audiences to achieve specific goals, including video production, website, and social media.
- Draft and edit content promoting the strengths of UNSW ensuring consistency and accuracy and that work is completed in line with UNSW guidelines and standards. Champion the distilling of complex information to create engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences.
- Develop content (according to UNSW style guide and meeting deadlines) for online engagement, collaborating with multiple stakeholders and managing execution through various digital channels including creating content for corporate social channels.
- Contribute to the visual content production/editing process when necessary, including organising a photo/video shoot, and executing the shoot using low-fi technology (e.g. DSLR or mobile phone).
- Monitor and report on content metrics in order to make improvements and ensure content is being fully utilised.
- Align with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the psychosocial or physical health and safety of yourself or others.

To be successful in this role you will have:

- A relevant tertiary qualification and experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven expertise in content production and curation across most digital mediums including video and social media.
- Knowledge of best practice digital content including analytics and SEO.
- Experience pitching and placing stories in mainstream and specialist media.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder expectations to achieve successful outcomes.
- Impeccable attention to detail to ensure accuracy, consistency and the ability to enhance and bring content to life.
- Understanding of target audience
