We have an opportunity for a Paralegal to join part time (3 days a week of your choosing) in the Brisbane CBD office on a permanent basis. This role will be providing essential legal and administrative support to lawyers in the Casualty team and help progress both litigated and unlitigated matters.

You will be involved in legal research, document review, drafting legal materials including pleadings, motions and settlement agreements, and assist in preparing briefs for counsel and experts to ensure cases are meticulously organised and well prepared. Beyond casework, there is also opportunity to engage in business development initiatives, support client engagement strategies and firm growth.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assisting with various tasks on litigated and unlitigated matters as directed by the designated Fee Earners, with a view to progressing as a Lawyer with the day-to-day conduct of files.
- Attending to legal research.
- Assisting with document review.
- Preparing briefs to counsel and experts.
- Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
- Communicating with external stakeholders such as other parties, Insured clients, counsel and experts.
- Assisting with business development opportunities.
- Attending court.
- Following all the Firm’s policies and procedures.
- Ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.

What will help you succeed in this role?:
**Experience**:

- We are open to someone who is nearing the completion of their law degree, or who has just begun their career in the insurance industry
- Prior experience as a paralegal or law clerk at a law firm in Australia will be highly regarded.
- Strong communication skills.
- Desire to assist others and work collaboratively in a high performing team.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products (including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel), along with the willingness to be trained further.
- A willingness to adopt and utilise AI and new technology.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to learn quickly.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Strong work ethic and able to take initiative in their role
- Attention to detail and quality assurance
