Noosa Pengari Steiner School first opened its doors in 1996 and has now established itself as a strong independent school offering a Steiner/Waldorf Education for students from Kindergarten to Class 12. We currently cater for 350 students from two hundred families and continue to grow as our high school develops.
The Primary School Coordinator plays a central role in nurturing the quality and coherence of education from Kindergarten to Class 7 (K-7), guided by the principles of Steiner education. In collaboration with the Principal and College of Teachers, the Coordinator supports the professional and pedagogical growth of educators, the wellbeing and development of students, and the ongoing evolution of the school’s learning programs and culture.
This is a leadership role grounded in care, clarity and collaboration — one that holds the full picture of child development while empowering teachers to deliver Steiner/Waldorf pedagogy imbued with creativity, inspiration and responsibility. The Primary School Coordinator is a key contributor to the Management Team and supports the vision and ethos of the school through active participation in school life and leadership.

**Key Responsibilities**
Educational Leadership
- Champion the Steiner/Waldorf curriculum across K-7, ensuring programs reflect a deep understanding of child development and harmonise with national compliance standards.
- Support teachers in maintaining pedagogical freedom within a well-formed curriculum structure.
- Facilitate professional development, mentoring and reflective practice to support teacher growth and educational quality.
- Coordinate weekly Primary Faculty meetings to foster a strong, collegial teaching culture.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Work closely with the Principal, College and Management Team to uphold the school’s vision and educational direction.
- Ensure smooth and thoughtful coordination of timetables, staffing and classroom needs.
- Encourage innovation while honouring tradition, adapting to the evolving needs of the school community.
Staff Development and Support
- Identify staffing needs and engage in teacher recruitment, placement and induction.
- Support ongoing performance review and teacher growth through constructive feed back and professional conversations.
- Foster a collaborative, healthy and respectful working environment.
Student Wellbeing and Support
- Ensure systems of learning support and behaviour management are integrated, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with Steiner pedagogy.
- Help oversee the safety, wellbeing and holistic development of each student.
- Monitor and support the implementation of individualised learning plans (Student Adjustment Plans) as required.
Community and Culture
- Support parents in their understanding of Steiner education to understand and contribute to parent education initiatives.
- Strengthen connections with parents through respectful, open communication and supportive engagement in school life.
- Contribute and attend community events such as festivals, concerts, parent education evenings and other school celebrations.
- Assist with enrolment processes and retention strategies that reflect the school’s values.
Educational Administration
- Contribute to the development and review of educational policies and practices.
- Support accurate and timely reporting, compliance, and curriculum documentation.
- Maintain records and processes that ensure accountability and care.
- Oversee the compilation and analysis of assessment data (in collaboration with the learning enrichment and learning support staff).
Essential Qualities and Experience
- Deep understanding of Steiner education and a demonstrated commitment to its principles.
- Proven experience as a teacher and educational leader, ideally within a Steiner/Waldorf setting.
- Warm, clear communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and support colleagues while holding clear expectations and vision.
- Organisational acumen and confidence in working with compliance frameworks along side educational ideals.
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritise competing tasks
