**Key Relationships**

The Preparatory School STRETCH Coordinator reports to the Head of
Student Diversity to enable continuity of STRETCH provision across
the School. The role also oversees the work of STRETCH staff including
teachers, visiting special needs specialists and Learning Support
Assistants assigned as direct reports. The Preparatory School STRETCH
Coordinator works closely with the Preparatory School Deputies and
teachers, and liaises with the Head of Preparatory School. All teachers
are ultimately accountable to the Principal.

**_Position Objective: _**
The Preparatory School STRETCH Coordinator develops, coordinates and administers processes for
identifying and supporting the learning of students whose learning needs cannot be accommodated solely
through regular class programs, including gifted and talented students. The Preparatory School STRETCH
Coordinator teaches students in the STRETCH program, and performs other duties common to all
Westminster School Preparatory School teachers. They provide leadership of the STRETCH Learning Support
Assistants team in the Preparatory School.

**_Key Responsibilities: _**
**1. Develop and coordinate processes for identifying and prioritising students with additional learning**

**needs, such as**:

- Supporting classroom teachers to identify students with learning difficulties and highly able students
- Analyse results from standard assessments in conjunction with Prep School leadership team, Head

of Student Diversity and classroom teachers
- Identify, recommend and implement specialist assessments, including referrals, to diagnose

individual learning needs.
- Model and promote behaviours and conduct expected of staff and students
- Collaborate with Head of Student Diversity and Preparatory School leadership team to lead and

manage change in line with the School’s strategic direction and priorities

**2. Lead and manage the STRETCH faculty staff**:

- Create a work environment for faculty staff that facilitates high levels of engagement, discretionary effort,

teamwork and development
- Undertake line management responsibilities for faculty staff including recruitment and induction, class

allocations, staff performance, compliance with School policies, etc.

**3. Plan, coordinate, support and continuously improve programs and approaches to maximise learning**
**outcomes for STRETCH students, which includes**:

- Planning, implementing, evaluating and continuously improving intervention programs
- Coordinating the development and implementation of learning management plans for students with

individual learning needs
- Supporting the identification of and disseminate the most effective teaching approaches for different

groups of students across all ability ranges.
- Providing support and advice to Preparatory School teachers in catering for individual learning needs for

their students
- Coordinating LAP (Learning Assistance Programme) and LAP resources.
- Planning for and monitoring transition phases for students with individual learning needs, in conjunction

with relevant staff as require

**4. Provide direct teaching and remediation to students as part of the STRETCH program.**
- Teach in the STRETCH program, using current, appropriate and effective pedagogies for students with

additional needs.
- Work with the Head of Student Diversity to develop effective ways of bridging barriers to learning through:

- assessment of needs/provision mapping
o monitoring of teaching quality and student achievement
- target setting, including through Learning Management Plans
- recording progress
- data collection and publication (via SEQTA)

**5. Perform administrative and liaison tasks associated with the STRETCH program and STRETCH students.**
- Liaise with Preparatory School leadership team to prepare STRETCH budget submissions and manage

STRETCH budget allocation for the Preparatory School
- Work with the Head of Student Diversity to gather and record NCCD Data.
- Coordinate collection of NCCD data from Preparatory School class and specialist teachers
- Maintain testing records for all Preparatory
