**Summary**:
As a **Forecaster** at Surfline, you will be directly involved in the analysis and publishing process of our popular surf forecasts and reports. You will join the world's top team of surf meteorologists in order to ensure that users are provided with the most accurate information to make go/no-go decisions related to surfing. The opportunity of a lifetime awaits you.

Under Surfline’s “Work from Anywhere” policy, this position may be performed on a full-time remote basis from a variety of locations in Australia, including anywhere in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, or Western Australia.

**What You'll Do**:

- Surf Reports, Coordinating, and Forecasts:

- Provide surf height and condition observations along with written forecaster insights within 30 minutes of sunrise and again during the afternoon.
- Gather and post to site daily water temps for all of Australia.
- Issue value-added surf forecasts for multiple locations around Australia and neighboring areas, like Indonesia.
- Complete training activities related to wave prediction and local winds.
- Rotate through weekend and holiday shifts.
- LOTUS Model Feedback and Quality Control:

- Provide feedback on the accuracy of Australia surf spot outputs powered by the LOTUS swell model.
- Customer Service:

- Coordinate with the global forecast team to prepare replies to Australia-specific forecast customer service tickets.
- Weather Editorial:

- Contribute to Surfline’s growing weather editorial program, consisting of news related to major swell events occurring in real-time and other stories related to global wave activity.
- Social Media:

- Contribute to forecast-related content on Surfline’s various social media platforms.

**What We're Looking For**:

- Extensive experience with ocean recreations.
- The ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- General knowledge of wave climates around the world.
- A great desire to push our surf forecasting content to new levels.
- Someone that doesn’t mind working early mornings and weekends.

**You May Also Have**:

- B.S. or higher in meteorology or related field.
- 1-2 years or more of operational forecasting experience, ideally in a marine or coastal environment.
- Management experience.
- A passion for surfing.
- Video editing experience.
- Online publishing experience.
