**About the Role**:
A Principal in the Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) Procurement Projects team, providing functional support to WAIO Site Engineering in the successful delivery of their projects.
As a member of the Procurement Projects team you will be responsible for working collaboratively to plan, implement and manage contracts according to the approved strategy with an overriding commitment to health, safety, social value, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
The Procurement Projects team requires a diligent contract professional to provide ongoing commercial support and guidance for existing and planned contract packages. A core focus of this role will be delivering end to end contract management as an integrated member of the WAIO Site Engineering Projects team and providing guidance and support to other members of the team. As part of the role, you will be expected to foster collaborative relationships both internally and with external parties for the successful delivery of the Site Engineering Projects.
You will be required to travel to Company offices and sites from time to time as the project team requires.
**Key accountabilities**:
- Development of strategies, undertake sourcing, execute new contracts and manage contract variations compliant with the BHP Charter, Code of Conduct, Group Level Documents (GLDs), Functional Level Requirements (FLRs) and relevant statutory obligations.
- Ensures that market engagement is planned and executed to meet the project schedule, quality and cost objectives.
- Co-ordinates the drafting of high-quality tender and contract documents to minimise ambiguity, thereby leading to effective contract management.
- Take the lead in facilitating meetings with internal and external stakeholders to sponsor deeper relationships with all supply chain partners.
- Liaise with other teams within the BHP Supply function on collaborative tendering strategies that deliver spend aggregation benefits.
- Monitor performance of work under contract at both project and portfolio levels in line with contracted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Collaborates with project functions to implement systems and processes that support collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain business intelligence of market conditions and external risks and opportunities.
- Participates in Supplier Relationship Management as it applies to the relevant category, while working collaboratively with projects and cross functional stakeholders.
- Manage the documentation and review/ approval process for the execution of variation/ amendment requests for contracts to company guidelines.
- Escalate contractual issues to relevant stakeholders and coordinate the resolution process including the facilitation and resolution of issues arising from claims, invoicing and rebates.
**About You**:
Ideally, you will hold a tertiary qualification (Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Engineering, Business, Law is preferred) or similar with experience within the mining and mineral resources industry. Previous experience in the rail industry and across ports, will be highly regarded. Alternatively, you might have 8-10 years’ experience working on the Contractor side (Engineering / Technical consultancies or Construction) with a demonstrated understanding of project delivery.

- Understands the similarities and differences of various project delivery models (e.g. EPC, EPCM and Owners Team Managed), and the allocation of risks through the selection of the most effective commercial pricing models
- Proficient in the MS Office Suite of products, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project
- Understands and implements principles and methods of dispute avoidance and resolution
- Develop and implement advanced commercial techniques to leverage value creation opportunities
- Experience in a mature Contract Management System (CMS) is preferred.
