**About the role**
Reporting to the Regional Head of Credit Risk; and with 6 direct reports, the Head of Country Banking Credit’s primary responsibility is the leadership and management of credit approvals for the Country Banking and Major Agribusiness Clients (MAC) teams in Australia.
This role will be responsible for challenging, overseeing and maintaining credit risk appetite within Country Banking Australia through leadership of the Country Banking Approvals function. There will also be opportunity to work with the Regional Head to be involved in various efficiency, regulatory, reporting and change management projects.
This is a 2nd Line of Responsibility role and Rabobank operates with a 3 Lines of Responsibility (“3LoR”) model. 3LoR is the way we organise ourselves to collaboratively deal with risks in a proactive and responsible way. It means we are clear on our role and responsibilities, while respecting and understanding the roles & responsibilities of others. It enables us to do the right thing in our daily activities for our customers.
The primary responsibility of Credit Risk, Australia (“Credit”) is to challenge the risk taking of the Country Banking First Line of Responsibility within Country Banking lending.
Core activities of Credit include:
- Proactively challenging the risk taking through analysis, advice & opinions
- Provide effective & efficient co-approval and oversight via delegated authority
- Influence first line of responsibility (1LoR) business ownership of credit risk, advocate heightened risk awareness and maturity, enable an open transparent culture and integrate risk management into standard business practices and procedures, is critical
**What we are looking for**
- Financial, Commerce or Accounting tertiary education
- Proven commercial lending/credit experience
- Knowledge of Australian Country Banking industries and related production systems
- Technical knowledge and understanding of credit risk fundamentals and philosophies, actions and structures (particularly in an Agribusiness environment)
- Superior credit risk analysis and assessment skills
- Commercial lending experience
- High level of financial skills including ability to analyse balance sheet, profit & loss and cash flow statements and a sound understanding of valuation principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise across business units including front office, legal, financial restructuring and operations
- Computer Literacy including Word, Excel and ideally the Bank’s core credit systems including CMS+ and risk rating models
