We are looking for an experienced Engineering and Maintenance Manager to join the Opal Bags team based out of our Thomastown manufacturing site.

The objective of the role is to optimize operations whilst maintaining reliability, condition, and availability of machinery across the plant.

The key focus of this role will be to:

- Provide leadership across all maintenance & engineering activity on the site
- Work with key business leaders to identify best practice systems and procedures to ensure that relevant KPI’s are met
- Provide cost effective maintenance to all plant and equipment, whilst maximising machine reliability and availability for production
- Ensure that all production equipment is maintained, to run at optimum efficiency and manufacture products that meet the set quality standards
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives to reduce planned and unplanned downtime (whilst ensuring legislative and regulatory requirements are upheld)
- Contract management of our 3rd party maintenance providers and other site service providers
- Management of a significant maintenance and capital projects budget
- Developing the capability of maintenance and engineering team members to ensure best in class maintenance performance

For this role we would ideally like you to have:

- Tertiary qualification in engineering (mechanical or electrical engineering would be highly regarded)
- Ability to build strong ongoing relationships and influence stakeholders at various levels
- Previous experience in developing and leading an engineering/ maintenance team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience in leading long-standing teams
- A continuous improvement mindset and an eye for innovation
