Patient Safety and Quality Officer

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to join our Quality Services team as a Patient Safety and Quality Officer. This role is responsible for managing patient, consumer, and family complaints, maintaining electronic reporting systems, and undertaking reviews of clinical incidents.
Key Responsibilities- Complaint Management: Responsible for managing and resolving patient, consumer, and family complaints in a timely and effective manner.
- Risk Management: Maintain electronic reporting systems, including Riskman, to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
- Clinical Incident Reviews: Undertake reviews of clinical incidents, including SAC1 and SAC2 events, to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Quality Assurance: Support the consumer advisory group and organize audits in accordance with the audit schedule to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Reporting and Communication: Prepare quality reports for the Board, Medical Advisory Committee, and Medical Governance meetings, and provide support to NUMs and line managers to review SAC 3 and 4 incidents.
- Accreditation and Compliance: Support the level 3 RN's and senior managers to prepare for drop-in ACHS accreditation audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Insurance and External Reviews: Prepare responses for Office of Health Ombudsman requests, insurance notifications for SAC 1 and SAC2 and high-risk events, and reports for Qld Health for SAC 1 and SAC2 events.
- Experience: Previous experience in working in a Quality and Safety team, with a strong emphasis on patient safety and quality improvement.
- Skills: Proven ability to work unsupervised and within a team environment, with high-level computer literacy in Microsoft programs and advanced Excel skills.
- Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build trust, promote confidence, and satisfaction with staff, patients, their families, and support persons.
