Engineering Leadership Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to lead our engineering team and oversee the seamless operation of our five-star waterfront hotel. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and experience in managing engineering systems, building compliance, and asset management.

About the Role

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for leading all aspects of property maintenance and facilities management, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and building systems. They will develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and long-term capital plans, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards and local regulations.

The successful candidate will also coordinate external contractors for repairs, refurbishments, and infrastructure upgrades, monitor and manage energy usage, and implement cost-saving sustainability strategies. They will maintain departmental budgets, manage inventory, and report on key operational data.

Additionally, the Chief Engineer will provide leadership, coaching, and development for all Engineering team members, collaborate with hotel leadership on new projects and operational improvements, and ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with industry best practices and company policies.


Requirements
  • Diploma in Building Services, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in a similar role, with at least 4 years in an executive engineering position within a luxury hotel or resort
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience across engineering systems, building compliance, and asset management
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a high-performing team
  • A detailed understanding of fire life safety requirements within the hospitality industry
