About the Role
- We are seeking a dedicated and culturally sensitive professional to join our team as a Family Violence Practitioner.
The Koori Family Violence Practitioner will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, providing support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing the court for family violence related matters.
Key Responsibilities- To engage with and provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a culturally safe and relevant manner.
- To assess the support needs of clients and provide effective services to address individual needs.
- To undertake community engagement activities to promote awareness of the Umalek Balit within the Aboriginal community.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal community, both society and culture.
- Able to work and communicate effectively and sensitively with the Aboriginal community and stakeholders.
- Thorough understanding of the impact of family violence on the Aboriginal community and knowledge of the current Victorian family violence policy context.
- Delivers information in a considerate and respectful manner.
