Electrical and Instrumentation Commissioning Expert

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support the commissioning of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems for bulk material handling projects in the mining sector.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in EC&I engineering, with experience in commissioning roles and a proven track record of delivering safe and efficient results.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Commissioning and start-up planning, execution, and documentation
  • Loop checks, functional testing, and system integration
  • Engineering support, including reviewing electrical and instrumentation drawings, P&IDs, and control philosophies
  • Ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, and regulations
  • Project execution, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Interface with contractors, vendors, and client representatives
  • Safety and compliance, adhering to site safety protocols and ensuring all EC&I systems meet legal and regulatory requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree or national diploma in electrical/electronic/instrumentation engineering
  • ECSA registration (or eligibility)
  • Minimum 5 years of EC&I engineering experience, with at least 3 years in commissioning roles
  • Safety certifications (e.g., HIRA, First Aid, Working at Heights)
  • Proven experience in mining projects, especially bulk material handling systems
  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, VSDs, MCCs, and field instrumentation
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., IEC, SANS, ISO)
  • Experience with commissioning software tools and documentation systems
