The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to lead our Workshop team in Somerton. As our Leading Hand, you will oversee a team of technicians performing assembly, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Workshop Technicians to meet and exceed service expectations
  • Drive efficiency within the team to meet tight deadlines while ensuring employees comply with WHS responsibilities and maintain a safety-first culture
  • Liaise with technical support staff and coordinate diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work
  • Maintain work schedules to ensure efficient utilization of equipment and resources
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day activities of workshop personnel and ensure labour is used effectively
  • Liaise with stakeholders regarding machine performance, product, workmanship, and warranty

Requirements:

  • Previous experience leading a team to achieve and exceed set goals
  • Hold relevant Australian (or Australian recognised) diesel or mobile plant trade qualifications
  • Safety-first mindset - ensure the HCA Safety Culture is embraced, displayed, and driven from within
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to build long-term relationships
  • The ability to navigate complex technical issues to deliver high-quality outcomes in repair and maintenance services with minimal to zero rework
  • Excellent technical knowledge of Hitachi mining and construction equipment would be highly advantageous
